Title: Our first escape!
Post by: colliewobbles on June 13, 2013, 10:30:08 am
We were promised it would happen and it did yesterday!!  Our 6 month old GOS boar decided he would like to play with the horses in the next field and check out the building work going on at the bungalow along the track.  So he bashed down the weakest point of the fencing (I guess they always find that bit) and headed off on his adventure.

Luckily we had left phone numbers with a few neighbours and they are all lovely - the man with the horses actually grew up on a pig farm.  We have made great efforts to keep our pigs tame and easy to handle so when we arrived and shook the food bucket he came running and followed us back into the field.   :relief:

So - late night last night re-fencing their area - using a new roll of stock fencing ear-marked for a second enclosure.  Hey-ho - no call today to say he has escaped again so fingers crossed!!  :fc:

Yes, it is so worthwhile training them to come to the bucket. Ours will follow it for ages if necessary.
