I rarely comment on the current state of play in England regarding such issues as, heath and safety, political correctness, state intererence, social workers etc, as I am no longer in England.
This article however caught my eye , and made me want to comment about it.
This is a woman who might well be a little eccentric, maybe a little odd, but probably one who just wants to bring a little sunshine into our lives. Or in this case toms.
The way that she has been dealt with shows up councils for what they have become. Run in the main by people that are not capable of interpreting the law, and its punishments in a correct manner. Using a sledgehammer to open a nut, and ASBO to squash a tomato.
The simply pathetic excuses for the ASBO make me feel indignant. Of course stairways should be kept open. But really, firefighters not being able to get around a plant ?
Add to this a resident complaining about POSSIBLE asthma problems with the plant, and we have a poison situation. Another armchair Nazi , encouraged by the state over the years to complain, and tell tales on neighbours. Wearing slippers instead of jack boots and hidden behind a curtain rather than wear a brown shirt.
All done for the public good of course.
Over the top on my part ? Well of course it is a little, as I have not had breakfast yet or coffee. However I find the continual barrage of mad decisions by councils to be most worrying.
I guess the powers that be will not be happy until every dram of free spirit and spontaneous thought has gone from us all.

To be honest, the communal staircase should be kept empty. I agree with that but not with any ASBO.

Hi Kevin,
I totally agree with you.
It's a wonder that the Council did not give her a fine for littering as well!.
