Title: jersey Calf living out ?
Post by: sokel on May 20, 2013, 08:38:45 pm
Just wondered if anyone has jerseys living out 24/7
the 2 calfs are now nearly 6 and 5 months old. they get out for a bit during the day but we would like to move them up to the other place where they would have plenty of grass but they would have to live out up there  :-\
Anyone done it ?

My older Jersey youngsters live out 24x7, until they come in to calve the first time.

5-6 months old - they should be ok now... but up in your area, it could be quite a bit harsher than we have it here, depending on altitude, shelter, etc.  Would there be walls for them to shelter behind?  Trees?

There is plenty of high walls that they can shelter behind , Its the weather I was worried about as you  know it is a bit rough up here at times  ::)
