I love tortoises, turtles and such beasts.  I always wanted one when I was a child but we weren't allowed.   Just had my Granda's working gundog, Major, instead.  he taught me all I know about dogs.

Hello Annie

Well you know a lot about dogs so he did you proud :dog: :D

I always wanted a tortoise when I was little but could not have pets as my mum was
scared of everything - made up for it since I left though ;D

I once swam with Turtles just off an Island called Maui, in Hawaii - it is beautiful to see them
swimming with you, and schools of little blue fishes following you too.

I also saw a whale breach - the guy on the boat said he had waited 15 years to see that happen, and on my first trip out I saw three, but one full breach.
Magnificent animals, so big it is unbelievable. A magical place to visit.

Julie ;)

Hi,

She is approx 26 years old and weighs 34kg BUT can grow up to 70 kg she is an absolutely beautiful animal, very very gentle.
You would need GIANTS feet and an airing cupboard in a Castle for her!.  ;D  ;D
She is native to the Sahara Desert and is the third largest Tortoise species in the World and the largest of the Mainland Tortoises.
Geochelone sulcata, is the Generic name and is a combination of two Greek words , Geo meaning Earth or Land and Chelone meaning Tortoise, Sulcata is from the Latin word Sulcus meaning Furrow and refers to the Furrows on the tortoises scales.
Hope you Like her

i don't have one, but there is one at the mewpark farm in muiravonside country park - and it's ace. I might have to get one.

though my wee dog - Fella - was NOT impressed.

I guess he thought it was a rock, but once it started moving, he wasn't happy at all. A confused looking dog is indeed a funny thing, but he wasn't happy.

Maybe if he got to flip it over a few times he'd be satisfied
