I've done something similar but it's turned out more bulky - will have to try that next time!  Used it as a scoop for mixed corn, rather than a dustpan.

Yes - I've tried this and they work up to a point but the plastic that the milk bottles are made out of is a bit flimsy so don;t expect that it wil be able to cope with heavy stuff.... but great for pellets and things

I tried it as well to make a scoop for the Just Grass but it was useless. Just too flimsy.  :(

The 'scoops' I use for coarse mix, sugar beet pellets and dairy nuts are recycled though - old baked bean tins.

I still use a 20 litre square ex paraffin container from 1995 that  cut diagonally to leave the full  handle on . It is a magic big wide mouthed dustpan .
I can also slide a wooden broom handle into the handle and make it a standing up useable dustpan for days when my back plays up.

We have bought large plastic containers from the factory up in Macduff that makes soft drinks. containers cost 50p each and half filled with water they are now used for making jumps for the kids and ponies.
