Title: Herdwicks
Post by: Chris63red on May 08, 2013, 11:12:39 pm
Anyone here got Herdwick's any information greatly received, thinking of purchasing..
I know they are quite a hardy breed mountain sheep from Cumbria (Lake district) but I would like to know more about the characteristics / traits of this breed.

Ive seen in the British Country Living magazine articles about these beautiful sheep.  If you went onto their website you could probably trace these articles and find the people that they interviewed.  It was a fair few years ago, but i expect the info will still be there good luck, if we had them in NZ I'd want some!

All I know about them is unless purchasing young stock they are 'heft to the land' which means they stay to the land they've grown up on. Handsome beasties though. I think Remy has Herdwicks.
