Title: Now what do I do
Post by: sokel on April 30, 2013, 06:55:08 pm
As you know we have a couple of stray Swaledale ewes that have moved in, One has been here since January the other last month.
Today we have a newborn Lamb from the January one !
They do not belong to anyone local infact we have been told they are from the other side of the fell but the owner moved away 2 years ago.
What can we do about tagging ? As we dont have any of our own lambs we dont have tags other than the goat tags with our herd number on
As its a male could we use one of these  as it would not be staying

If it were me I would just put in slaughter tag. As long as you log it in your flock book as a gift from god I'm sure animal welfare will be fine!  :excited:

Well goats and sheep come under the same herd number, so goat tags are absolutely fine for sheep too. and as he was born on your holding, he will need tags with your numbers on!

I will stick one of our tags in it then, One of the ewes is untagged aswell and apparantly is the lamb from the older one
