Title: Help - Chutney Rescue?
Post by: Min on April 23, 2013, 06:40:19 pm
I have just potted up a batch of chutney, felt very satisfied, it was a bit more watery than I was expecting. Then I realised I have forgotten to add the raisins.

So my question is  - is it feasible to unpot the chutney, heat it up with the raisins for a bit then repot having cleaned and re-steralised the jars? Or will I turn it into some sort of food-poisoning fest by doing this?

As its a bit watery I think you could well reheat it. But I would make sure that it gets another good boil to make sure that any nasties are killed.

Yes, good point. It could well be inedible without the raisins and end up being wasted anyway if I don't do it.

Okay, I will try this and report back in a few months when I taste it for future reference!
