Title: Rescued robin
Post by: colliewobbles on April 23, 2013, 06:37:49 pm
One of our students brought a robin chick into school this morning after her cat got it!  News of this got to me (I'm in a big high school) as the local 'mad animal woman'.  I found the girl in question - another teacher had told her she could take this robin baby in a box to all her lessons - it would be fine!!!    :o  :o  :o

Anyway - I rescued him/her from the 13 year olds and luckily we have an excellent bird wildlife sanctuary near Norwich.  I called them and they came out and collected which is so good of them.  It was very special to spend some time with the precious little thing - he/she seemed quite chirpy and bright so hopefully will pull through.

A couple of pics - for size reference, the beak was about 1/2cm long.

hope it is okay... the shock of 13 year old girls is enough to frighten anything!!

I have a similar reputation at my school,...
isn't funny the things kids find and want identifying?!"

Bizarre week it seems - Today I ended up caring for a russian hamster that some students had with them!!  Turns out they stole it from the local Pets at Home  >:(

Just like buses - no animals in school and then two come along at once.   :P
