Title: weaner off his feet.
Post by: Berkshire Boy on April 11, 2013, 08:25:03 am
I have a 4 month weaner who has gone off his feet. Started with a limp and will get up to eat but that is it. He has been like it a couple of days, have given him pen and strep and anti inflammatory bit not much change. This morning another one has started to limp. Anyone any ideas before I try the vet.

Joint ill or erysipelas maybe ?  ???

Is there anything in the paddock they could have hurt it on ?
Any swelling or heat around the foot or knee joint BB ?
Strange that the anti-inflammitory hasn't helped

Sorry, I'm as much use as a chocolate teapot  ::)
Let us know what the vet says

They are inside because of the weather and were going out today but will keep in for now. Looks to be a bit swollen on the leg no signs of erysipelas blotches etc. They have had another jab and will wait till the morning and if no better will get vet out. Thanks Karen, any opinion is always usefull.

Same thoughts as HH but its not possibly sore trotter pads, it has been very dry here and i noticed one of my older pigs limping a bit and on investigation the pad of her front trotter has cracked and is sore, spray of terramycin and sudocrem and old sock has helped ;D

I had a sow that found the concrete floor difficult - she hobbled all over the place until I put a layer of straw down....just a thought :)
