Title: Electric Fence Circuit
Post by: Floyd on April 10, 2013, 01:17:40 pm
I have my electric fence netting in a square.  However I have conflicting views as to should I connect the energizer to both end of the net.

My thinking is that you would do that with a home circuit creating a loop to the consumer unit and this would maybe protect from a broken link in one of the lines.

I know that it will work on a single one ended strand but was wondering if there is any problems/benefits if I do.  Don't wont to blow it up by linking both ends.

Many thanks in advance for any replies

With an electric fence the circuit is completed when an animal touches the fence - the current flows through their body, then through the ground to the earth stake(s):

So long as you have current to all parts of the net it'll work - there's no need to make it a loop.

HTH.  :)

Yes your thinking is correct.

It would not hurt at all to put power to both ends of the net. It would indeed help in the case of a broken wire in the net.
