Title: Diahorea in nearly one yr old ewe lamb
Post by: GillB on April 09, 2013, 04:02:45 pm
Hiya Im new to keeping sheep - got our first 4 greyfaced dartmoors (rejects lambs) last summer who are doing really fine with us novices.

One of the ewe lambs had soft poo  so after  while we thought we'd worm them all which we did about 4 weeks ago - then got hit with huge snow deluge (North Wales) so they were confined to their sheep shelter/small area outside and fed on dry food and haylage.  We've just been able to let them out again ( about a week ago) onto some quite rich grass for the time of year.  All the others are fine but this one ewe lamb now has the runs ( not surprising after all that diet change Im guessing)

Any ideas how I can help her?

I need to wash her down of course as back end now a mess

I will ring local farmer for advice also

Many thanks Gill - Powys

I managed to get hold of the breeder (they've been without phone/internet for 3 months) - he said its probably the rich grass after such a long spell on dried food and to give her another dose of wormer which Ive now done - and given a clean-up - poor thing

 - the others are all fine :)
