Title: snow again
Post by: sabrina on April 09, 2013, 08:36:36 am
Got up to more snow this morning for the 3rd day running, this time is lying but the sun is now up so fingers crossed it will go. I planted bulbs in tubs last night and left them in the pollytunnel just in case it got frosty.  Granddaughter and her friend staying for the week so was hoping weather would improve but gales forecast for Thursday. Going through lots of hay with the ponies as just no sign of grass, hard Spring for the farmers around me. Do hope we get a decent summer.

I've just bought another eight big bale of hay - hopefully that will do until the grass comes in.

Mind you, the lambed ewes are hardly eating any hay and the ponies aren't wolfing down straw so maybe the grass IS growing here and they're eating it down. But not much sign in the ungrazed paddocks either.

  for a good summer

It's rain here which I think is pleasantly refreshing and at least the hose pipe is not frozen for the first time in ages. Think the grass must be growing too - the geese are grazing happily. Spring!

It is a beautiful mild sunny day in Central Scotland and I am off to take me doggies out then get stuck into stuff in the garden. :excited:  Won't be long before the grass will need cutting. :excited:

Its stair rods in NW France, with thunder and lightning expected this afternoon. Would be today, just as we are having an outside tap fitted. Lights keep flickering, so I don't think that the storm is that far away!

Annie, are you living in fantasy world?  :innocent:
Its very, very dry here (can't believe I am saying that after all the rain we had a while ago). Earth is turning to dust and no signs of any grass growing.
I think we have some rain in the forecast though which will be good.

Biting wind only +3degs, still quite a bit of snow lying here , Just been told by our landlord that a 28 yr old farmer near here who had a flock of 500 ewes on a hilltop has only just been able to reach them , and only brought 400 home , huge loss for a young bloke trying to get started. More snow forecast for South Wales .

Nope, quite mild and very sunny - off out now - dogs getting hot in the car awaiting their run.  TTFN

Still a fair amount of snow lying on the high ground round here and many of the smaller roads impassable. There was snow swirling around in the air this morning but I told it to eff off and now it's sunny but chilly. Definitely an improvement  ;D
