Title: New Chickens
Post by: colliewobbles on March 31, 2013, 11:47:02 pm
We got 12 new chooks today, in an effort to keep up with demand for eggs from friends at our dog agility club.  They came from Little Hen Rescue and were rescued on Friday from an 'enriched cage' farm near Leicester.  Now, compared to previous ex-batts that we have had (which were virtually oven ready) these are in relatively good condition so I guess that means that the enriched cages are doing some good.  However, they are still very pale with overgrown combs and claws and scraggly feathers.  Here's a few pics:

They don't look in as bad a state as I was expecting when you said rescue hens

Looking like a few good hens you have taken on,  :fc: they settle in quickly and start getting down to egg business  :chook:
