Bursting with excitement, our girl is pregnant.  Now to read up about farrowing etc.  Any advice on good books, websites etc?  :)

The GOS club website has good articles (written by Mandy/Fowgill farm) and I have a copy of the Haynes Pig Manual (written by Liz Shankland/Tudful Tamworths) which is also really well put together.

Exciting stuff  :excited: :excited: :excited: WHEN is she due ?
Karen

:excited: Fantastic news - but I couldn't help but think of The Good Life when I read your title, is that how she came by her name?   ;)

Congratulations

My big burly lifetime farmer of a BH still chokes up when he talks about sitting in the arc with Meg-pig as she produced her first litter.  (I bloomin' well hope we have got her in pig again, cos I don't think he'll cope if I send her away for sausages...  ::)  :D)

So you have exciting and wonderful times ahead of you  :-*

Margot! Cracking name!
HH - thanks for the thumbs up for the book. I tried to make the breeding/farrowing section as pictorial as possible because it's a damned sight easier showing something than trying to describe it in words. I think it worked. The entire breeding (and health section) in the book was checked over and approved by Bob Stevenson, one of the top pig vets in the UK and consultant vet the the British Pig Association, so it was good to know that he approved of what I'd written.
Ann & Rob - best of luck with the farrowing. Feel free to drop me a PM or email if you have any queries.
