Hi,
if I have a coloured ryeland from 2 white registered ryelands can I show him in a coloured class at a show? I have just recived my flock book and the newsletter along with the Northern Ryeland groups Newsletter and Im not quite sure that I understand the custom and practice.
Can anyone clear it up for me?

No doubt The Oracle (in the shape of VSS) will be along shortly ;)

I'm sure you can show him in CR classes. He will be registered in the supplementary register of the flock book. Coloured lambs from white parents are often desirable because they bring new genes into the coloured flock :)
VSS is your best bet though.

Buffy,
Yes, you can show your coloured ryeland in Coloured Ryeland classes. The sheep can be registered in the supplementary section of the Ryeland Flock Book and any subsequent offspring can be registered in the Coloured Ryeland Flock Book.

Thanks,
I will just have to wait and see if he is good enough.

We have had a coloured Ryeland ewe lamb from two white parents this year and will be registering her in the supplementary flock book. I think she's a cracking lamb but not sure I'm brave enough for showing yet ;D

Wellies,
if you are in the Yorkshire Area we could go together.

Oh well,
perhaps we could be pen pals and compare notes as newbies on how we are doing. PM me if you like and we can swap photos and info.
