Title: Over the gate egg sales - how many eggs can one person eat?
Post by: MAK on March 21, 2013, 09:51:33 pm
We give eggs to neighbours because we have very few people passing by. Except , 3 weeks ago, a very thin chap and even thinner dog started to march past in a blizzard. He bought 6 duck eggs. The next week he marched past head down in sleet but bought a dozen. Today his partner drove up in the sunshine and bought 2 dozen. She caught us in the worshop and also bought 4 of our egg cups carved out of cherry wood.
So they either have a thing about eating eggs, are supplying family or selling them on. Looking forward to their visit next week to see how many eggs they buy and if they will bring even better weather :sunshine: .

You should always encourage people to eat eggs, especially when they are buying them from you.   ;D

Maybe the dog needs a few more if it's skinny..

Any sales are good sales and a repeat customer is great, especially if they tell their friends..  :)

We started selling at our dog training club a couple of weeks ago - one or two people said how great they were and it's gone mad - we are needing about 6 - 8 dozen a week just for those at dog training.  So much that we have 6 more hens coming next week from Little Hen Rescue.
Thanks - Donna

Ah great stuff that you need more hens.
We have an order for fresh eggs that we can not meet so I am thinking I should buy the 3 we need and slip them with our near 2 dozen. nah - can't do that but I may chuck in one of our wooden egg cups.

They probably bake. You can easily get through lots that way. I was talking to somebody today who'd just made a big chocolate cake - so big it needed 24 eggs!

Now my lad can cook he makes cakes, cookies and pancakes whenever there are enough eggs.
I would love to try duck eggs. So many people applaud them for cakes.
And want to try souffle since I've heard about it  :yum:

Duck egg cakes - I am told that ours come out a bit more "yellow" in colour than if we use chicken eggs. High yolk to white ratio and a richer taste.
