The property we're hoping to buy has a 90' x 50' hay barn with a concrete floor - it's one of the major draws
However, we've found another property that might be suitable for a lot less but it doesn't have the barn - any ideas on how much a large outbuilding might cost to raise?

That is a big barn unless you have plans to fil it with machines, hay/straw or even animals. A low cost option would be a 2 sided hanger made of timber and sheet metal. They work well if positioned against prevalling winds. We use our hanger more than the barns. Infact the chicken live in one and the other is not used at all except for the cellar beneath it.
A large barn may sound attractive but we do not use them as much as I thought we would. The metal sheet hanger is excellent to park under, store tools, logs and to do jobs under.

A 60x40 is about 10k supply and the same again for all the services, base, erection etc. your building might be double ie20k for the building but maybe economies of scale on erection etc. but that's agric spec and industrial spec would cost more also if you have roller shutters etc

My 60 x 30 shed cost £5000 in '94 with concrete block walls and fully sheeted. The kit was £2500 and i got the frame erected for free. I did all the other work myself with a little help from my brother
These days a similar kit is around £5000 but there are lots of contractors willing to erect them. 90 x 50 is a big shed and we may see some serious shed envy on here

It is a big shed but I want it for storing/working on vehicles. Also been approached by someone who would like an indoor archery range...

not the best picture but this simple hanger has a meatal roof and sheets just o n 2 sides. I have an outdoor kitchen sort f area to prep and cook pig food and we store tools etc under it too. lots of height to dry onions etc and hang rabbits from beams.

Wood for one winter in La Creuse.
nah that is not a barn - this is a barn. The other one we don't use is out of shot AND I have repaired the hole made by the previous owner so he could get his bull thru a door.

The French place looks fantastic Spandit. It looks very big - lucky you !!
Where is is ? Is it occupied or is the family holiday home? It looks very big - much land? I know of one TAS member who is still searching for somewhere in France to rent or buy.

Loire region (Indre et Loire), about 70km South of Tours.
Has a couple of acres and mostly unoccupied. If someone wants to rent it, please pass my details on. Property market too depressed to sell at the moment.

Its probably going to be cheaper to buy a barn along with a property than paying to construct a barn yourself aside a property of slightly less value if you see what I mean.
+ Its a whole lot less hastle planning wise under most circumstances.
Cant be of any assitance on the cost bit ;)
