I have a bag of bruised oats near its sell by date and none of my horses need oats at the mo, can i feed it to my chickens?

Yes they'll love it.

My chickens will do anything for oats. Not sure that they should only be fed on oats though. Probably best to mix them with some ordinary chicken feed.

Crushed oats near their end date sounds like a recipe for sour crop Ann and Rob. So give in tiny amounts if you must. I would just throw them away.

I would be inclined to go by the oats themselves rather any sell by date. If they smell fresh and look ok i would use them but chris is right if they are off it could be a sour crop recipe.

Your waterfowl will happily eat too if you soak them in a bucket of water overnight.
