Title: Shearing teacher wanted Staffordshire
Post by: ChaseView on March 05, 2013, 02:12:41 pm
Hello,
Just wondered if anyone knows a shearer in Staffordshire? We have around 35 sheep that will need shearing in May (Dartmoors, Balwen and Jacobs). The majority, including the 3 rams, are very tame. The Balwen are a bit more flighty but still pretty docile. We can get the sheep into a barn with power. Ideally we would like to hire someone to come for a day and teach us the basics of shearing and also shear some of the sheep.... I have tried looking on the internet but no luck so far! We are OK using the electric shears for crutching and dagging but would like to learn how to get a whole fleece off - we are hoping to get some of the Dartmoor and Jacobs spun. The Balwen had scab earlier in the year (all gone now) so their fleeces are pretty ropey, but would be good for learning on.....

Many thanks!  :sheep: :sheep: :sheep:
