Castle Farm- I've been trying to contact you via the email address on this thread and the slightly different one on your website to order some fertile eggs for my two broodies who have started sitting on infertile eggs ( I have no cockerel )- but no reply from either email posted last week. Having looked at your website I would love to have a dozen eggs; all your hens look fab.... the girls have been sitting for nearly a week now. :chook:

Hello,
Sorry for the ignorance, but what's a welsh black ? Now I've got more time on my hands I'd love to eat my own chicken. Are these eating or laying birds ?
Regards
Tony

Welsh Black Fowl are a breed I created a few years ago. They are a cross between a Large Fowl Australorp and Asil/Indain Game.
They lay 6 eggs a week and are a first class table bird on a par with Ixworth but a bigger gene pool.
Totally hardy and free-range and a calm non aggressive breed.

They dress out around 7lbs on a grain diet and free-range.
I have sold hundreds of hatching eggs from this line and have Improved Indian Game and Indian Game if you want to set up a table and egg laying flock.

Improved Indian Game using a 3rd generation Welsh Black.
More photos on my web page.
I breed utility breeds and have done for 40 years.Bred for smallholders by a smallholder.
