Title: Really, Eeuw and Why?
Post by: Pedwardine on February 24, 2013, 10:46:43 am
Got told yesterday that if you put a glass of milk and a dish of liver next to each other in the fridge, the liver 'moves' towards the milk  :o . Weird stuff. I have no idea why this happens. Any degrees in liver and milk relationships out there?

No idea if that's true or not but I remember my Mum having a dish of liver sitting in the middle of the kitchen table ready to cook for my Dad's tea when he came in,  I was about 12 at the time..  She couldn't believe her eyes when the liver literally slid off the plate across a foot of table and into our dog's mouth, She swore to my Dad that the table was absolutely level! ::)  He got soup and rolls like the rest of us that night  :innocent: and Susie had her puppies a few days later (Mum bought more liver for him when they were sold )

This was on drivetime radio 2 with simon mao last week - my OH came in and told me about it - it has to be liver with fluke in it - doesn't have to be well contaminated, only a tinsy bit, but its something to do with the fluke being attracted to the condensation on a milk bottle - it has to be a glass or a glass bottle.  Someone put liver in a fridge and it ended up wrapped around the milk bottle by the morning.

Now, what I'd like to know is, who uses milk bottles these days and who on earth would put liver in a fridge without it being covered in clingfilm or in a bag.  Don't fancy dinner at their house. :-J

It's true. I put a pack of liver on the bottom shelf in my fridge (health and safety) and when I went back to the fride two hours later the liver was on the middle shelf next to a pint of milk.

If I put a lead on the liver and leave it on the doorstep when the milk man turns up will it take the dog for a walk?

It would have to have a studded collar. Liver is slippery stuff.

On a bit of a tangent but still pretty gross. A couple of years ago my OH brought back a Bull Huss that he'd caught out sea fishing. He'd killed it on the boat and then skinned it and cut it up at home. Well the chunks of meat that were in the bowl were still moving around hours later and even after they'd been in the fridge! I recorded it and put it on YouTube but it's disappeared now. Needless to say, I didn't eat any of the fish!

There are plenty of gross youtube vids with octopi and cuttlefish, and the salt in soy sauce making the nerves work and the tentacles wriggle off the plate...  :o
