he is an unusual but stunning hpr crossbreed

He's lovely - but I'm a sucker for any puppy ! ;D
We had a lab x spaniel who looked a bit like this, mental dog - used to run round our gallop in front of hubby's trail bike !

What a nightmare some of these so called designer dogs are - I'm not saying this was a deliberate crossing but it has the potential to produce difficult dogs. English Springers can be total lunatics, and Weimis can be sharp. I wouldn't like to try to train one of these. There's a woman in Leicestershire breeding 'Bringers' - English Springer to Brittany - and doing it deliberately - and selling them. I believe her two ESS bitches have produced a number of these. As I said - a nightmare!
I cannot for the life of me understand why anyone would pay double for a mongrel than for a pedigree animal into which years of thought and knowledge have gone.

I have to agree, some of those so called designer dogs are nothing but trouble. Not the dogs fault just people not thinking about the outcome when the new owner finds he has a mental case living in his house. I was looking through our local paper the other day as I am thinking of getting another cat. Our old one can no longer hunt and our other cat is not keeping up with the amount of mice on the go. £60 for the run of the mill kitten and most of the adds were all charging £40/50. My dogs are all spayed but if I had a pound for every time someone has said that I should have bred with my german shepherds I could buy another one.

kittens are free over here and in plentiful supply as sadly few people neuter, i wont be coing over to uk til i find a gold border collie pup but when i do i might bring a few over for anyone who wants one!
back to the crossbreed issue; their are few responsible breeders over here, most dont health test or breed for temperament or quality. they breed for quick cash and are no better than puppy mills as many dont worm/vaccinate or socialise their pups, i make little-no money out of my litters, i sell my border collies for 250euro registered 150euro non reg wormed, with puppy pack, vaccinated. etc....
in the uk the same pup would sell for 500-600stg
there are a few responsible breeders over here; if anyone wants a pup from ireland contact me and i will do all that is in my power to help you find a good breeder

They aren't the most responsible horse breeders either.

I would agree - whilst the puppy is very cute I wouldn't want to own one - the madness of a springer and the stubborn/aloofness of the Weimaraner is a bad combination!

Why anyone would breed mongrels is beyond me..... Why anyone would breed NON registered dogs is again, beyond me....Regardless of whether or not they are so-called pedigrees, without registration papers they may aswell be mutts....
Don't mean to sound harsh but i have worked in rescue kennels and shelters and i'm so sick of seeing puppies, dogs, cats and kittens comming in... The entire place bursting at the seams with unwanted animals all looking for homes - then people breeding willy nilly for an extra bit of cash, only for these poor animals to be badly bred and many of them again, ending up in shelters and rescues!

Thank you for saying what i wasn't quite brave enough to say myself! I totally agree with you! Apart from anything else, if you get a mongrel pup you have absolutely no idea what it will turn out like - size, shape, temperament etc. At least with a pedigree/registered dog from responsible breeders you have a pretty good idea and some sort of guarantee.
