About 6ft tall growing in extremely sandy soil. Just sprang up in early autumn. Anyone know what it is? Thanks.

Sorry, alternate image after duplicate, new to all this!

Not got a clue, did the buds then flower, if so, what colour?

hi
probably not right but looks like its part of the nicotina family from the leaves

Hi,
Thank you both for your replies. Asked Mum about the buds (as its her sandy soil it was growing in) but she said she pulled it up before then as someone told her it was a weed from America which is bad news and notifiable over there as the pollen is a severe irritant, but she can't now remember the name. I'll have a look at the Nicotina family and see if that jogs her memory.
Thanks again for your replies.

I am pretty sure it is Ragweed (Ambrosia artemisifolia) or a related species it is in the composite family like daisies and wormwood. It has probably arrived from birdfood seed.
The pollen indeed is supposed to be particulalrly allergenic to people suffering from hay
fever.

Thank you. Tons of migratory birds fly over and stop around there. Maybe it came with them? Or yes, as you say in seed. Thank you for your help.
