Ive just bought a couple of hatcheries and was wanting some ducks this year to eat so which breeds do you suggest please?
-
I'd have thought any of the large breeds but I'm no expert. I've got Silver Appleyards which I'm hoping to breed from (first egg today - yay!) and I believe they're good eating although yet to try myself. They certainly look like they'd have a lot of meat on them!

We have Aylesburys & Aylesbury x Muscovy for our meat ducks - Nice size, Lovely meat. 1 duck will do a good meal for us & the 4 kids.

Thanks :) Alesbury's and Alesbury x Muscovy's it is then :)

Hi,large white Pekings,Cherry Valleys if you can get hold of them are really good.
Graham.

Ill see what eggs ebay are selling. :)
They will all hatch at approx the same time so hopefully Ill get a good mix of breeds and then see which I like the best.

I was very impressed by the saxony's we raised last year and will be definitely doing them again this year.

Thats another added to the list. Thanks

Muscovies are good, they make a large lean carcass and are excellent mothers. You can cross them with a Pekin drake for an even better hybrid, apparently.

Lovely, thank you :)
