Hello everyone - new here and enjoying it all!
How hard is it to find a small house (condition does not matter as long as we can live in it!) and some land (minimum 2 acres but would like more)??? We are struggling to find anything. A plot and a static caravan is another option.
We are making do with a nice garden, 2 ducks and my spinning wheel but dream of so much more....
Any advice or ideas on finding the "right" place would be great.
Morven.

 Hi and welcome to the forum. I'm a backgarden smallholder in Shropshire so can't advise but someone will have some good info for you.

 hello and welcome from Durham.
There are plenty of properties out there. It depends on whether you are restricted to the area you can move to and what type of property you are hoping for.
Sometimes people on here advertise their property. Good luck with your search. Keep your dreams up, they will happen eventually :fc:

Hello morven
Do you want to still stay in Angus?

Hello and Welcome from a very windy Somerset
It took us 6 months to find a small house with two acres in Somerset. As always, it does depend on how much money you have to spend. If money is no object I'm sure you could find one immediately! Our house needed an awful lot of work doing to it, which helped with the price.

Hello and welcome from :sunshine: and windy Carnoustie
There are plots for sale at Muirdrum - not sure how big or how much though.

Thanks for your messages.
We do like Angus but my family are in Perthshire & we were about to go up to Aberdeenshire to look at a place but it sold the day before! So I guess that location is not a huge issue.
Have seen a few places for sale here but a bit out of our budget....and our house is not sold yet.
Panic was setting in as we can't move till we sell this house, we might have to move if this house sells and then where will we go?
But I believe that it will all work out. Hoping to find a friendly farmer who will sell us a tiny, wee, almost derelict cottage with a bit of ground!

We bought this before selling our house in Alloa; we put it on the market and although lots of folk were interested, everyone had houses to sell. We decided to rent out the Alloa house out and had just signed the lease when a buyer popped up, who had viewed months before and had finally sold their house. Fortunately, the buyer was happy to wait until the lease was finished but it was squeaky bum time for a while.
Very stressful, moving house - not plannng to do it again any time soon ;D

Welcome and good luck with your search, I had a really difficult time also, so completely understand the frustration of it! But just keep looking and I'm sure the right place will be just around the corner.

What sort of budget and what things can't you bear and what are essentials?
There are some around under / around 200k mainly in the north and northeast of Aberdeenshire.
Eg rural scene have one near BANFF at the mo for 195http://www.ruralscene.co.uk/look/proplist.asp?tprtlID=2
Scroll down nearly to the bottom as they are listed price high to low
Or strutt and Parker have a site with pp for sale in the kinder climate of royal deeside near Torphins with 12.9 acres for offers over 150khttp://search.struttandparker.com/search/list?radius=0&geoLocationType=officeGroup&geoLocationId=3&location=Banchory%20office&searchType=buy&minBedrooms=0&maxBedrooms=100&minimumPrice=0&maximumPrice=100000000&precision=exact&resultsPerPage=10¤cy=pound&order=priceAscending&furnished=no&unfurnished=no&page=1¢erType=geoName&residential=yes&house-flat=yes
Plus a derelict but standing place near Turriff for the same price with 4 bedrooms tho it is only 1 acre
And a 4.86 acre 2 bed already completed renovation near Huntly for offers over 220k

Saw a house today in Angus for £175k, with at least 4 acres. Saw it needed renovation, but the cottage actually didn't look too much of a wreck I thought.
It was on CKD Galbraith's website.

Thank you Beth.....we have been to view this one you mentioned.....I love it!
Now we just have to hope that our house sells quickly as I don't think this one will hang about for long. It's just what we have been looking for.
