To all those sceptics who thought I couldn't do it, Curry went for slaughter this morning. Ok, I admit that Debbie Dogwalker actually took him but I let her. I coped better than I thought I would until the other tow started calling for him this morning and that nearly finished me off.
Next time will be easier.

  Well done you for following it through. He has gone for the purpose he was intended from the start.
( It really brings home to me how hard this must be after following his mischief on here over last year  I have admiration for you. )
-
Oh
Must be really hard for you as he's been a big part of your life for a while now, I too have admiration for you. I will have to do the same at some point with a male kid x
-
How brave. Well done.
I have my first 2 boer boys who are now 10 months old and I am so fond of them. They have such characters. I get as far as thinking that I will phone up the abbatoir but thats as far as I get. I tell myself when the next batch of kids are born I will not get attached.
I am bad enough when I sold the girls on in the summer.

Oh well done
It sucks, but you have done it so very very well done :trophy: :trophy:
Next time will be easier, promise. Never get EASY but it does get easier
-
Well done
-
I find it's easier to do it if the boys are up to no good and you get a bit  with them, then it's easier to think 'that's it, they have to go' and you know it makes sense. That doesn't always co-incide with the abbatoir booking system though :-\

Well done you  .
-
 It must have been hard
-
Well done! Take a  .
-
well done ... he had a good life with you and now will pay you back...circle of life and all that
-
It is hard but well done
-
Very brave and well done
-
I think you did very well too.
It was the very trusting way my little billy kid followed me into and then out of the trailer that got to me.
-
Well done MGoM
-
Well done  It's not easy and neither should it be, but if we want to keep milking goats, we have to eat the billy kids really.
-
Well done! and once the meat comes back it's not him anymore... and it will taste superb.
Marinated and roasted leg... :yum: :yum: :yum:
-
well done,
farewell Curry, hello curry ... and casserole, and roasts
-
Well done. We will have to do this soon and I'm not looking forward to it at all.
-
well done.
-
I still have this to come with Goats but with the other animals I have managed to accept once the animal has gone its gone then we go shopping a few days later for a lovely box of meat :innocent:
-
Well done, it must have been hard, something I'm gonna have to do at some point
But I do love a good goat curry :excited:
-
It did help that Debbie and I were in the same position. What was really hard was today when I had to ring the abbatoir to tell the how I wanted him butchered. The butcher was telling me what a great goat he was, as in well covered for this time of year when a lot of animals are thinner and obviously well fed, and I had to keep reminding myself that we were just talking about some meat, not my boy.
-
Aww
-
Oh heck, that must have been so hard
-
Well done .....its so hard to do with goats- they do worm their way into your affections. I do tend to sell my males when they are small, so I do not get attached.
Curry had a good life with you, and thats the important thing. I will not be joining you for the goat curry - one thing I cannot eat.....curry of any description :)
-
I am looking forward to the curry with a small c. :yum:
-
I used to eat curry goat in Leic, it was more an Afro Caribbean thing but lovely!!
-
Well done Lesley, it must have been very hard I never thought you would do it but "circle of life" and all that sort of thing eh? Enjoy the meat ......
-
Huge pat on the back. As i say to my three year old (and to myself really!); we feed them and look after them and then they are turned into meat.

and they feed us.

Exactly. It's the simplest way I could find to answer "where have my sheep gone?". There was a bit of an awkward moment when the goldfish died recently and she asked if it were meat.....
-
Oh dear. Fish fingers anyone?
