Title: Agricultural Waste Exemptions
Post by: Marches Farmer on February 01, 2013, 04:04:14 pm
Just in case you haven't seen the latest information on this one - you have until 1st October this year to re-register the waste exemptions you probably already did in 2007 but which now have different numbers(!)  There are also some additional ones, for instance if you plan to store up to 100 tonnes of wood for carving crooks and walking sticks, or make cheese from colostrum.   You think I'm kidding?   I am not.  I went to an update session arranged by our local rural hub and that particular bit must have looked really funny from the presenters' table - 180 farmers simultaneously rolling their eyes towards Heaven ....

You can register via www.environment-agency.gov.uk (http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk) or by phoning 0845 603 3113.

Apparently the colostrum cheese thing was because one farmer, in Moldavia or Latvia or somewhere similar, was doing it and there isn't a regulation to cover it.  Can you imagine the e:mails flying between EU capitals and all those people in a panic because there wasn't a regulation in place to cover it!

Of course there's one for bonfires - in fact there are several, depending on exactly what you're burning .....
