Here's a little ditty cause the weather's been so bad;
The smallholders life is very hard
We work from dawn to dusk,
to try to grow the food we eat
and hopefully make a crust.
We fight the mud
we fight the weather
we fight the in-lamb ewes
and when the bloody tractor siezes
we try to fight that too
Our clothes they are so very drab
we wear them day to day
Our trousers worn, our jumpers patched
Our fleeces covered in hay.
We gaze upon our grand estate
all patched with baler twine
The fence hole plugged with pallet wood
I'm sure it will be fine
And in the summer we make hay,
I see you nod and wink
but seeds get in the worst of places;
Sun turns your face all pink
Ooh! arrh grins my neighbourly farmer
as he leans upon his stick.
How would you like to test me knots
high up in my hay rick!
Townies they don't get our lives
What is the fuss about?
they just can't understand the pain of water
freezing up your spout
You have it all!!; so ideal!
Where do we all begin
The skippong lambs, the mooing cows.....
Ram's had me knee again!
your city homes, the plastic life
So good you do believe
Smallholding's in our blood you see
We know we'll never leave.`
Spring is coming folks! hang in there it can only get better( hopefully)
