So, we all thought Maisie Pig was going to go first......
Seems her little sister 'Sparkle' decided to beat her to it ::) :excited:
4 little boars all doing well, and sadly one who didn't make it :'(
Still got Maisie Pig and Adelaide to go, so I'll keep you all posted and get better pictures ;)

Well done Sparkle - fab.

Congratulations to Sparkle

Congrats all round Karen
It must be one of those weekends - I thought Portia had started Friday night. But she's still in 1 piece & Louise popped 10 last night!
Sadly 2 didn't make it, as they'd got stuck & I had to help them out :'(
The 3 girls & 5 boys are looking great - all black & white with both piris - splitting image of their dad, SoS :eyelashes:
 :pig:

Will get my OH to take some decent piccies tonight or tomorrow - my phone camera doesn't seem to be able to cope with the red heatlamp light - everyone looks like they've been "tango'd" :D

They are Kunekune piglets ;D
You'll find loads more info about them here http://www.britishkunekunesociety.org.uk/articles/kunekunekeeping.aspx (http://www.britishkunekunesociety.org.uk/articles/kunekunekeeping.aspx) Great wee pigs ;D

It's Sparkle's first litter Ladygrey ;) She had 5 but there was a wee runt that sadly didn't make it.
She's Awakino and dad's an Andrew, his average litter size so far is 8 - but he did have 4 girls in with him this time round (he's only ever had a threesome, never a 5 way :roflanim:) and she's just over a year old so I'm happy with this for her :) Plus, it means if Adelaide (Sparkle's mum) pops out 15 again (which I really hope she doesn't :fc:) we can cross foster some to Sparkle and hopefully keep them all going ;)

Aww thats sad :( I hate it when a little piglet dies, even if it is common for one to go.
Oooh interesting! what lines is the sow that produced 15? I find the jenny lines do produce more than the awakino lines, my favourite pig has awakino in her lines but she is a kereopa, but I havnt had any luck so far with kereopa pigs!
So hoping all turns out well when she farrows for the first time with another sow in April :fc:
haha :roflanim: poor guy! I know some very nice Andrew boars :)
-
Adelaide is also Awakino ;)
We had a Kereopa sow right back when we started, but unfortunately she was barren (and now happily living at a livery yard with a pot bellied pig ) but we've got another younger Kereopa sow now, who's produced piglets within the last 4 weeks - she's a complete sweetheart of a pig
-
Aww lovely :)
I have had two barren kereopa pigs, hopefully this next gilt will be fine :fc:

That's interesting :-\
My SS&GF champion pig, ~Maisie (Kereopa), nearly ended-up as sausages :o ~I had to practically beg my OH to give her an extension! We thought she was barren too, but she's now nursing her 2nd litter :eyelashes:
~Not very large litters though, the 2 litters have been fathered by 2 different boarlines, my Ru (Tommy) & Te Whangi (SoS) boys, which have both fathered fairly large litters to my Awakino & Rebecca Gina sows. Her daughter, Daisy has been running with SoS, so we'll see how many/any she produces. :fc:
