Hi I have 3 ryeland registered shearlings who will be lambing in March.
With my kids I ear tag both ears with identical numbers but do I have to have a ryeland society tag, plus electronic tag plus my herd no? Also does a castrated male destined for meat have a different colour or number? Many thanks

You would have to check this with the breed society, but:
The slaughter ram (as long as being slaughtered by 12 months of age) only needs a single, non-electronic slaughter tag.
The breeding animals would need to be double tagged (EID & Non Eid match up) it is possible to have the breed society numbers on the back of the match-up tag as management information (upto 17 characters)
Hope that helps

If you have joined the RFBS there is details of tagging requirements in the flockbook, I also think there is guidance on tagging on the RFBS website. If you are still unsure after reading the information from these sources I'd email Dot as she is a wealth of knowledge or post on the society Facebook page which is a great way of getting answers.
Fingers crossed you'll get lots of Ewe lambs!!
