Their work has just begun
well this years lambing has started, 5 days early ::)
one would be understandable but 2 second crop and 1 gimmer have all lambed, to add top the fun one of the two crops was scanned as a single but had twins :excited: and a gimmer who was scanned with triplets turned out NOT to be the mother of the lamb she had pinched off the gimmer's lamb. We'd kicked the ewes we thought were not mothers (or imminent) out into their paddock. While Sam got on with putting up the extra lambing pans to cope with the unexpected rush, I went to kick the triplet mother out with the rest, opened the field gate and the rest charged back in. Not content with hanging around trying to get back to their shed they got fed up and went to explore the workshop, eventually got them into their field. Sam was still working in the lambing shed so I fed (got trampled by) the ewes we kicked out, hell those ewes are big :-\ after that I fed the ewe hoggs and Easycares (who are due in March) and came out of there unscathed.

I so know where your're coming from!!! and at the end of all this you are absolutely knackered, bruised and battered and needing a cuppa :innocent:

HA yup badly bruised my instep getting the ewes back into their paddock so Nell has taken Bryn for his walk.
On the lambing front it's just got better and more confusing as after his cuppa Sam went out and one of the 'singles' had just dropped a pair and it looks like she might have a third in her :thinking:, so at the moment he's got 6 lambs instead of 3, 4f 2m :excited:

Glad you are having healthy lambs! And clearly the sheep are very fit :eyelashes:
But it sounds as though whoever did your scanning is not very accurate - operators do vary...

Had our regular scanner and he is usually spot on, however we were a bit late getting them scanned (92 days) as he was taking a training course somewhere, think he had a new machine as well.
Yes much better to have more lambs than expected than less, just got to keep the little sods alive.
As I type I have lamb No.7 on my knee, found tucked in behind the water trough and very hypothermic :-\. So looks like instead of 3 singles we've got 2 pairs and a set of triplets.
The gimmer who was scanned with triplets isn't far off the lambing. Nell has been despatched to pick up more lambing pens as we're expecting most to be lambed down within 6 days.
