Title: Mr Fox
Post by: jameslindsay on June 14, 2009, 04:08:19 pm
I have some one coming on Thursday to try and sort out  my fox problem. Fingers crossed he turns up and if he does he removes the problem!

My fox problem went away years ago. I invested in dogs. As long as you allow your dog access to all your land.....and pee on it, then foxes will not come near.

I have 3 dogs and have let them pee everywhere I'm afraid it didn't do any difference!

Good luck with your fox problem, lets hope it gets sorted then your bird can get out and about again.  :hshoe:

We have a very healthy fox population around us and i had stopped keeping poultry because of all the fox casualties, since having free range pigs we've not had a fox on the place so much so I've actually got hen back again and still have the same number as when they arrived. Dose anyone else have ideas on this, are the pigs keeping them away or have i just been lucky? There are still foxes around saw one the other day in the next doors field.  :chook:

I remember this topic on another thread. I can't remember who it was but they did say that the fox didn't seem to come near their land where they kept pigs, but they had been seen in neighbouring fields. I don't know why this would be though - perhaps the scent is a throwback to wild bore & foxy wants to keep his distance ?  ;)

James, you and Kenny should take a walk around the perimeter of your fields last thing at night when you need the loo, if you catch my drift........

Male urine keeps the foxes at bay, I was told - or a big dog.  Our Hester was sent out every night on our croft till a couple of toonsers bought the adjacent property and complained about her wandering round their gravel.

think it's YOU rather than the dogs that should be doing the peeing!!!
