P Well, I have wasted loads of time today and thought would ask s I am sure it is a simple problem, I have done it before but forgot. For some reason my main computer will not connect to my BT home hub, my laptop is connected and OK. Not sure what to go on and how to reset the main computer as it is very annoying,I have separate business server on the computer that is still working. I am sure a dodgy programme took over when we turned off 2 nights ago, anyone know what I should do? anyone out there? anyone understand what an earth I am on about?
Thanks

Hi Sandy,
If you're running Vista try...... Resetting the router you were connected to..... is it by wifi or cable?
or Right click on the icon with the two computers on your lower tool bar by the clock and select "diagnose and repair"
or Same icon but select "network and sharing centre" and "view status" of your Local Area Connection" you can diagnose from there too.
Apart from those options,I haven't a clue,sorry..........Ree

OK, try this. Switch off teh hub, the computers, printer - everything connected to the hub. Leave for 5 minutes then switch the hub back on, then the computer without the laptop being on. Coming to the Co-op for milkand bread in 10 mins so will pop in past.

Will do...kettles on...thanks!!

IT PROBLEMS GALORE!!!!!

What next? Bringing lettuce tomorrow will find out then, no doubt. Switch off everything. Take out ALL cables, remembering where they go, then put them back in one by one. Then switch on the computer - NOT the laptop. And see if it clears. If not then you need more expert help than me.

Carn't be the connection tth computor as I still get E Mails via our busnss server, steves brother manages that. Like we concluded, something has changed the server and my firewall/virus checker is preventing them getting acsess. I will contact Tom prbably later today dependingon what we ae doing....THanks, looking at photobucket now!!!

Have you tried re-pairing the hub with the computer?
-
How do you do that?
-
System restore to two/three days ago, might help you out.

I did that and had no effect, it looks like a server has taken over from BT on the main computor and is being blocked, I get a message from F-secure saying that an application is tying to act as an Internet server, just going to see if I can find it, am getting a bit fed up messing with the computor now >:( Hope something works!!!

How do you do that?
Some BThomehubs require you to pair the devices. They normally have a button on the side that you press, a light will start blinking and only at that time can you then try to get a wireless connection. Once paired they normally work fine, but occassionaly seem to lose the setting so you have to re-pair

IT OK!!!!!! Sorted it out this morning...THANKS ALL ;D

What was wrong?

Not too sure but I said something about maybe someone computer was logging in to my server as a main computer, then I turned on again and kept allowing the pop up box with warnings, after signing in it all was OK..I am not sure as the last time we use the main comp, when we switched it off it took ages and was uploading update, so I suppose on turning it back we had to authorise those updates,I may be talking rubbish but, hey, ;D it's working...Thanks for the help!!!!
