I have one electric pole on my land and its in the hedge. The pole belongs to western power. Before i phone them i was wondering what the payments are from other electric and phone companys for having such poles on your land.
-
We've got 3 or 4 poles on our land all in hedges. We get about 20 quid a year from Scottish Power.
-
Remember, you will only get payment for the poles if they are serving properties beyond yours - sadly for us that means only one would count, so havent bothered with it...
-
if you're in England you'll get nowt, if it was a pylon you might.

There may be no payment due at all it will depend upon how long the poles have been there and when you purchased the land. In the past some hard-up farmers have 'Capitalised' peppercorn rents and taken 20yrs advance payments. This would mean that any new owner would get nothing from the service company.
Sorry to act as devils advocate.

That is true. There was an option to take a one off "forever" payment but I thought it wasn't enough so sod 'em they can pay me every year. If a previous owner has taken a one off payment you'll get nothing.
-
We don't get anything for ours either.

Oh mate , if you are in Wales ? , you are quids in with western power !
You will get the life changing sum of £6.86 for the pole and .70p for hedges and ditches compensation , £7.56 total . The cheeky bastards have more front than tesco .

I have 2 poles with a big thingummy box between them also 2 straining wires and I get the princely sum of £58 a year, as they are in my garden asked about moving them into the adjoining field and was told that would cost at least 20k. This is from Scottish Power

our previous owners took a lump payment for gas/bt/electric poles on our land so we get nowt.
