I am helping my neighbour becuase she has a bad back. She is 84 and usually very active and keeps a large veg garden going.
Helping her out allows me to appreciate her daily routine that I thought I'd share.
At 08:00 I light her fire using twigs ( prunnings) she has cut from her fruit trees and collect logs from across the lane kept in her barn. She has dry bread in hot milk for breakfast and her dog (kept on a chain as a gaurd dog) gets some nuts and bread.
She has always had her main meal at noon ( we eat at night). So - I get home at 09:00 and start cooking ( just as she would). I also have to get her "fruit" from the barn ( an apple or one of her own kiwi) and a bottle of water that is her drink for the day.
Today she has a cassoulet with beans soaked yesterday, confit of duck leg and a bit of Toulouse sauasage. I am running out of ideas how to serve up a different salad for her and she will have some cake.
This old lady would otherwise be doing all this herself and in winter use her outside cellar to get the veg. She even grows a hardy winter "salad" that she eats every day. She never watches TV but the post delievers her paper and she does word games - bed for her is at 20:30 ( about the time we eat our main meal of the day after a glass of wine).
Just wanted to share this ladies healthy but rather harsh lifestyle as I admire her so much.

That's pretty impressive, and no doubt contributes to the fact that she's still active at 84
