I lost yet another sheep today :'( . He was my lovely Gotland ram who I used on all the Gotland ewes this year. I'd had him since a ram lamb and halter trained him, he was such a lovely boy :( . I couldn't believe it, I have my 3 rams together in a field and they've been fine. I checked them yesterday morning on my round and all was well. Then today went into their field, and saw two of them standing in the shelter. Usually they come over when they see me but today they didn't ??? . I went up to the shelter to find the Gotland lying dead in the corner. At least I now know there is something going on and they aren't being killed by predators. I took him straight up to the VLA for a post mortem and and hoping above hope that they find something conclusive so I know what I am dealing with.
I'm waiting to vaccinate the others when I get help hopefully tomorrow.

So sorry Remy :bouquet: it must seem like one blow after another. I hope the VLA can give you an answer to work on; I always feel it is worse when you do not know the cause. You have my sympathies  .

So sorry to hear about your ram :bouquet: Hope you get some answers soon.

What a total bummer :( Let's hope the pm shows you what you are dealing with. If not then you need the advice of a good vet to get some answers. Because of the endless wet this year I think certain diseases or murrains are having a field day, and the animals are a bit below par from coping with the rain so are succumbing. How miserable

So sorry for you Remy. As already said, I think it's harder when you just don't know why you lost them.
:fc: there will hopefully be an answer soon and you can protect the rest.

Sorry Remy ..... must be a tough time for you. :bouquet: Hope you get answers soon and have a better New Year.

Such terrible news. Glad you've opted for a pm. You need to know. Thoughts are with you. You've had such a rotten time lately.

Thank you everyone. Today we vaccinated all of them so I have done all I can do, all sheep are being fed hay/haylage and have access to shelter. All look okay at the moment except for one Charollais ewe who is lame ::) ::) , she has a swollen pastern/fetlock - anyone got any ideas what it might be? (Never ends!)
