whats the difference between ryelands and southdowns?

They are similar breeds, although I can tell the difference looking at them (we've got Ryelands) but don't know how to explain it, and certainly don't know enough about the breed standards to say what the difference is supposed to be!

The Southdown (http://www.southdownsheepsociety.co.uk/main.html) is an amiable and middle-sized sheep with an easily managed fleece.  The meat easily becomes fatty, which is why we don't keep them though we have used a Southdown ram to cross with our GFDs with success


I know nothing about Ryelands.
