Title: Kent Apple Cake
Post by: NormandyMary on December 01, 2012, 11:54:37 am
At 4pm UK time on ITV they have a competition programme for the country's best bakery. I only started watching it last week, but its really good. One of the bakeries was from Kent and they made a Kent or Kentish Apple Cake made with huge chunks of apple, lots of cinnamon and a crunchy top. Well, Ive had to adapt the recipe as they didnt give the amounts of the ingredients required, but Ive had a go and its in the oven now. Hopefully this afternoon, when its cooled down, Ill have a good report about it, if not, Ill be warming it up and covering it in custard for tonights dessert, and if its really bad, Ill give it to the chooks!

I LOVE apple cake  :yum:  :hungry:   ;D

I have a good recipe for one with a crunchy top made with Cox apples - now I'll have to dig it out, as British Coxes are back in the shops.  If I can find it I'll copy it here.  Do share your recipe Mary - if it works

Just had a look online - there seem to be as many different recipes for "Kentish" apple cake as there are bakers!

So what's so special about this one?
