good news this morning this months feed bill has has not seen a increase in cost since August the price has increased each month.
we have seen creep feed go up from 371.80 to 401.80, sow & weaner 312.00 to 334.00 and breeding sow 312.00 to 326.00whilst not as bad as we were first warned it could rise to but still bad enough.
what have yours gone up to ?

Last year at this time I was paying £270 for a tonne of sow rolls (in 25Kg sacks) this year it's £350 :o
August, September and October saw the sharpest rises for me, but November and December have stayed the same :relief: Hopefully it'll not rise too much more :fc:

Basic sow lacto feed £305 In April, £335 now. Growers up £30 too.

All our local suppliers are around the £350 mark and all are saying expect it to go up again soon. We use Marriages from a local supplier but I'd be interested to hear what price a direct delivery from them would be. I'll look into it when I'm ready for some more.

we buy in direct minimum order 1 ton i will know monday if i can get it at a better rate from a new supplier fingers crossed.

We had a delivery last week and it was £285 for sow rolls. Been this for a few deliveries now, we get 3 ton at a time and it lasts about 6 weeks, so been same price for around 4 months or so.

Interesting to see these prices - here in SW France we are paying 345 euros a ton which equals today £280. Earlier in the year we paid 329 euros so an increase.
Raisinhall Tamworths - do you get your 3 ton loose or in 25kg bags?

Just took a tonne delivery of sow & weaner this morning - £339.

We use Varleys near Darlington. It is 3 ton minimum and thats loose not bagged :). They are a good company to deal with, there have been times that other places are cheaper when you ring round but their customer service is very good so we stick with them.

Just to check - is the £285 for three tonnes or one? It is a good price fr one tonne, but bloody brilliant if it is for 3 tonnes!
How do you store the 3 tonnes?

It is £285 per ton, minimum order of 3 tonnes so £855 for the load :) . This lasts about 6 weeks. We store it in a shipping container :) .
We could actually sell all the pigs and afford a foreign holiday every 6 weeks instead ;D , it has been suggested a few times!!

Or you could give up sausages and bacon, and live off sow rolls instead? (Just a thought! ;) )

OH said the other day it looks like pig food or cat food for tea because thats all we have here to eat ;D.

Mmm. That would last us three months. Which, if I remember correctly, is about the shelf life of most pig food. I am interested in your shipping container store. Do you just pop it on the floor, or have you built something specific for the feed to go into? (Sorry - lots of questions, I know! :eyelashes: )

It is a wooden floor inside the container and the food just gets blown in. Dont know if they all come with wooden floors but we havent done anything inside ours so we can use it for feed :).
