No, you are not too late at all, at all.
I didn't plant my spuds until May 28th and a second batch on June 5th last year and they all came through with no problems
i've not been to the garden centre for a few weeks now - which seems surprising - but i'm sure there will still be tatties in there.
alternatively, pop into the supermarket, buy a bag of spuds, sit them on a sunny window shelf for a week or 2 and plant them

we were given some at the Big Tent festival last year (July). Some of them did ok, the ones I planted even later than that not so, but late summer was rubbish. :&>

i've just planted some more today (in polypot containers)
these were saved from last year - should be ready sept time.

just watch the for blight , and they might be a bit small if planted later (shorter growing season)

yeah, blight is a worry
i've put them into containers so that i can move them into the greenhouse in september - keeping the temp up a wee bit. we'll see how we go!

late ones didn't do well last year, but it was utter rubbish weather. Will try again if they give away free seed potatoes at the Big Tent again, lol :&>
