Title: Flashing dog collar
Post by: Bionic on November 17, 2012, 09:27:25 am
Before bed I let my dog out on his own and he loves to run across the field.
The problem is the dog is black and I never know exactly where he is. If he is gone a long time one of us has to go out with a torch to try to find him. (he is usually enjoying himself digging or playing in the long grass).
A couple of days ago his new flashing collar arrived and its great. Its like having our own sat nav. I can watch from the comfort of an upstairs window and see the light moving across the field.
£3.90 well spent

It is a funny sight to watch a flashing band darting through the trees  ;D our little black terrier needs one for walks through the winter as we walk along a forest path and she would disappear into the black before her collar arrived.  They are a great idea

Brilliant idea, would also be useful in deep undergrowth I think - would one of you like to post a link where you got yours? :)

if you cant find one locally you can get tiny keyring ones on an elastic loop which you can loop back over itself and attach to the collar - that way they can wear normal collar. I liked the built in flashing ones but the little dog found the 'box' for the battteries a bit big.

:sunshine:  Will do.  I don't go out walking at night with mine, just let them run for a half hour or so last thing -  but even my little paddock has hidden areas where Allez likes to hide from me when I tell him its bed time - so it should be useful for finally getting the better of that rascal! :excited: :excited: :fc:

I was asking about those in the pet shop but he did not have any, we have had all sorts, currently they just have reflective ones, the little flashing units we had all fell off after a few walks , I put a reflective jacket on them sometimes but it also comes off,  I am having problems again with Pay Pal so I shall see if I can buy them some where as I do go out when it gets dark, although I can see our Yellow Lab!!!  THANKS

We got a couple in Aldis. They're meant for joggers or cyclists but wrap on to their existing collars no worries. Great for our dark morning runs with our 2 dogs in the field. All you see are are bouncing red dot and a white bouncing dot chasing it! Great also for evening walks along the roadside with no pavement.

Have used Allez's one in my front paddock - where he tries to hide from me at times - no more though - "I can seeeee you!"  :innocent: :excited:

One of the best £3.90 I've spent! :excited:

Annie, I am so glad it works for you.
I find that putting one on Archie gives me peace of mind. If I can see flashing somewhere in the fields I know he hasn't wandered off.
