Hi,
i was just wondering if anybody know what natural food chicks can eat without giving them pellets? i fed my previous hens: corn, rice, wheat and grains, peas, vegetables to peck at and ground egg shell or oyster shell for calcium. Those hens were damn tasty and made brilliant eggs, really deep orange yolks - they were so good.
Can chicks have the same?
And are there any natural foods you can give for worming? i hear garlic water works but not sure how true this is
cheers

A lot of the taste is in the breed DLagorio. The more expensive pellets contain all that you need plus vitamin supplements. Chicks are a problem as they need small stuff and much more protein, as their digestive system isn't very efficient. I would stick with good quality unmedicated chick crumb, put them on quality rearers pellets and change the diet to what you think makes them tasty just for the last 4 weeks.
