Hello just dried our late crop of potatoes we want to store some for replanting next year what is the minimum size best to keep for seed potatoes

get an old egg tray.. the best size for seed potatoes fit nicely into the 'slots'

How will you store them?
I saw seed poatoes in a shop yesterday. 10 kg net bags and I could see some wet and rotten ones already.
I am happy to buy them but not now - why ?
Well last ourfirst year here I had a great disease free crop. This year my neighbours helped me by letting me plant on her land and another neighbour gave me some of her potatoes to plant on my plot.
Kind but I had collarado beetle on my plot for the first time !! They seemed to originate then spread from the spuds given to me. My other neighbours plot has the beetle too. I'm thinking if I plant "disease free" spuds in virgin ground I won't have the daily ordeal of picking off the orrible pink grubs.

Hi mak we are storing them in hessian sacks in a dark insulted store we have. we planted ours in virgin ground ie never been ploughed in the 30 years we’ve lived here apart from the pigs were on it last year so no diseases.
We have sorted them by hand and any damaged ones will be used immediately any small ones to small to peel will be boiled up for the hens with some layers mash, and any with rot on just get discarded.
I agree it’s a bit early to be buying now we are going to add a king Edward to our stock next year. We planted Nicola 25Kg Sarpo Mira 50Kg we have had super return on the Sarpo Mira with good size potatoes the Nicola weren’t as good by the end of today we should have an exact total weight results.

Hi all just to update in case anyone is interested as we have finished sorting and bagging ready to store. From our initial 75kg of planted potatoes here are the results of our efforts.
252kg of good sized eating potatoes plus 109kg of new seed potatoes for next year and 66kg of to small to peel potatoes which we will boil up and mix with layers mash and feed to our hens when its cold in winter.
I don’t know if there is a average yield from potatoes but considering the weather and how late we planted I am very please with the results.
