Hi, i was wondering where the cheapest place would be (in Scotland) for buying bales of straw. i have a pig and he is in his bed shivering. he is cosy enough but i feel a bit sorry for him so if anyone can help...

Transport is often a lot of the cost so I would think the farm next door/next door but one would be the best as you could get them to dump a round bale (if outside storage you can cover with a tarpaulin weighted down).

Jennapiggy, you don't say where you are, which would help ;)
I used a site on the net which you could enter your postcode in and it showed your nearest supplier, but I can't find it now ??? Yell.com would probably be a good place to start.
But, the best thing to keep your pig warm, is ANOTHER PIG ! They can snuggle into each other for warmth. They're incredibly social herd animals, one on it's own is going to be sad, lonely and might even become depressed. :gloomy: :'( Think how cold your boy looks now and imagine him on his own when it gets to minus 10 or 15 - no amount of straw will keep his as warm as another porcine pal would ;)
