Title: DB 885
Post by: Odin on November 07, 2012, 08:21:16 pm
Have just acquired another DB 885 . ( to compliment my others ) . This is one of the first 200 built of 1971 vintage. It is a very original, straight and tidy machine but has an anomaly , the bonnet is too short by approximately 3 inches ?
The tractor shows no evidence of ever having a cab, it has the old 'shell' type rear mud wings. It even has the original seat and seat base, never seen one before and I'm a spotter. The tractor has the chocolate brown chassis, white bonnet and red only decals, like yours. The length of the bonnet is 54 inch but needs to be nearer 57 inch.
Could you put a photo of yours from the side showing the decals and measure the length please.
Mine also has a 'Bottle-opener' DB badge. I am sure the decals are original on the bonnet but wonder if the bonnet is for a DB 780 ?

AH I am now enlightened as to an email that arrived and was deleted as I did not know where it came from north motors sorry about that. Need to add small holder forum subject.
I will photo and measure tomorrow and post Friday as  I am out tomorrow night.
Mine is the none bottle opener 1973 one I also have an 880 I will measure the bonnet on that for you to compare.
The first photo is of our tractor when we got her next after we tidied her up we are now working on a cab for the winter

I regret selling mine - even if the front tires did go flat everytime you picked up a full load in the front bucket and pulled a wheelie with too much on the back ;)

Always started, could leave it in the rain and cold over winter and it would still fire-up in spring. :)
