I apologise that I have obviously been too outspoken and will therefore leave this forum. Dan you say you encourage Freedon of speach but then you go and LOCK the subject matter, I hope with the blessing of the person that the thread originated from? In every walk of life there are those people that annoy others but no one has the courage to day to these people - shut up! Seems true in this case, let these simple minded folk walk all over you and your forum.
-
you go on about freedom of speech then in your next breath tell the "annoying people" to "shut up"
yea good one
by the way its Dan's site he can do what he likes

It's a shame you feel you have to leave lovespigs. As far as I could see everyone on the thread in question had the opportunity to put their point of view across six pages of posts. There was no consensus emerging, views were diverging not converging, and it was descending into personal attack. And I love that feeling of power when I lock a thread, I just can't help myself. ;)
It's not our job to hold the coats on the forum, it's to set the tone. We try to be even-handed and fair-minded, but we can't please everyone.
Goodbye.

A nice strong cup of good old English Tea!
Why is there not a Scottish Tea - oh, yes, I forgot there is - Scottish Blend - that'll do - taifoo! :yum:
-
biscuit?
-
yes, a biccy would be nice.....a rich tea or maybe a digestive or two.....maybe even a lovely slice of cake too , I prefer plain , but Dundee or Battenberg would go down a treat....but if not a nice cooling sweet to suck on ... a FOX'S glacier mint would fit the bill... ;D ;D
cheers
Russ

ENGLISH TEA? where does tea grow in England? i think you are thinking of the days of the empire when the map was pink and the sun never set on old blighty
English tea my Erse!!!! ;D
-
There actually is a guy growing tea in England its on the Tregothnan Estate in Cornwall
-
bet it's rubbish!!
-
As I said, we all have differing ways we view our short lifes, my view is to enjoy as much as I can, I enjoy meeting people with different views, it all adds to lifes richness...see you around than...ta tar!
-
a FOX'S glacier mint
No the fruit ones are better lol
If everyone was the same it would be hell of a boring place !!!!!
Imagine nato and EU meetings everyone would agree and then they wouldn't be able to spend all the money on things at the meetings lol
Rustyme you got me thinking i could eat a cream take now !!!!!
-

"but has he gone yet?"
she and yes
wow, i just clicked her profile link, joined on may 31st, 10 posts and left after 2 days due to a dispute.
was someone just at the madam here?
ach well, shame they didn't stay, the more the merrier - or at least more entertaining anyway!
-
im going to keep an eye open for her on other forums/sites
-
Who was she? What did I miss?
I miss all the fun!
-
Often written words come across differently to how you want them too, I sent a sarcastic message to a family member who had not invited me to their wedding and they took it differently to how I meant it......I WAS being mean but they thought I was being nice :D :D :D. I have strong views but am VERY easy going, very little offends me so, I tolerate ALL, yes I take ALL the Sh*8t :)
-
im going to keep an eye open for her on other forums/sites
Other forums - what other forums - you mean there ARE other forums? ;) ;D ;D ;D
-
Other forums - what other forums - you mean there ARE other forums?
Yes but not really worth bothering with .....
Biscuits, oh how I miss digestives. You can buy them here but they are so expensive and have normally gone soft.
-
Right -this calls for action. I spent 5 years missing biscuits. This is not on.
Hilarysmum - PM your address, me and Mel will bubble wrap some packets of Biscuits and airmail them to you with a box of Twinnings English Breakfast Tea.
-
Aw thanks thats a lovely offer, what about if you come for a visit and bring them with you ???
-
Where are we bringing them too? ;D
I'll pack me bag!
-
Lordy, I just got a pm telling me about the thread that was blocked - a blocked thread on TAS no!!!!!
How did I miss it??? I blame the lot of you. I finally decided to get my veggie patch going - me supervising John digging of course - I am of course a very important person with a bad back :P So there I am out there doing the thing that proper gardners do, wearing my proper gardners hat and my new badge saying GARDNER, and low and behold I miss the entry of the year!!
You said gardening was fun!!! HFW said everyone should do it. Well that's fine for him to say, he doesn't get any juicy goings on on his forum!!
Blaaah to em all!!
Now I shall get back to my gardening.
Kate :farmer: ;) ;) ;)
-
You see the nack of gardening is to have loads of tea breaks, I now cannot have a break without the forum for company!!!!
-
.... and a digestive
-
Rhyan and Melissa, bakingly hot Brittany. The chemist is going to run out of factor 25 in a day or 2 cos my pigs are using so much
-
Right - Factor 25, Digestive Biscuits, Twinnings English Breakfast.
Anything else? Tunnocks Tea Cakes maybe? Thats what I missed when I was living in Spain.
-
No oddly enough, dont miss anything other than the odd decent biscuit. They are all so very sweet here. Great if you like chocolate.
-
Now you got me going, Tunnocks Tea Cakes , I love them and did not realise there were made in Scotland, maybe that is why they were a bit more difficult to find where I used to live, one thing about being a grown up ;D is you can eat what you like!!!!anyway, my tea is cold so I better make another before my other half comes back from work......anyway, I have been busy all day if he askes!!!
-
Biscuit Checklist:
Digestive
Rich Tea
Chocolate hobnobs
Ginger snaps
Ginger Creams
Nice
Custard Creams
any others?
-
OMG I've been poorly for a couple of days and have missed the mud slinging!!
As for biscuits it can only be a digestive for me!
-
Chocolate Gingers
Shortbread
Ginger Nuts (for dipping in tea)
Fruit Shortcake
Bourbon - we get biscuits at meetings at work so you have to develop a taste for bourbons, but they were my Dad's favourites.
-
My children love Bourbons - I can't stand them!
-
One of my fave bidkies is RIch Tea, like me, plain and simple!! definatley not rich :D
-
It was Peter Kaye who said that the mother of all buscuits for dunking in tea is the Hob Nob - you can't beat an hob nob - it sucks in half your brew! I love that sketch - miss the biscuits as well!
Kate :yum:
-
Now Hob Nobs we can get here, might only be the chocolate covered ones though.
-
Hilarysmum:
Boot is full to the brim of Digestives and Factor 25!
-
Ill put the kettle on.
-
Isn't this a loooonnnnggggg 'goodbye'? ;) ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
Tunnocks Tea Cakes, the daddy of them all for those of you that have watched Still Game. If you go onto Amazone they describe Still Game as in English, i wonder how many english speaking people would understand it.???? ;D
-
I understand it,I loved that programme and there was another similar, forgot what that was, I think it was Game On!! I worked in Corby northants for a while before I moved up here, many came from Glasgow so I began to understand bits there are still some big gaps in my comprehensive but I get the jist of it.
-
No not game on but Dear Green Place I think...very funny...I worked in Glasgow and it run sooooo true. Any way, I worked in Leicester and worked with people with loads of different languages and I undrstood them ususly as well, well, most of the time!!
-
I liked Game on too, Also like dear green place , Chewing the fat , Still game, and also like the middle lot rab C nesbit but didn't like the beginning ones or the later ones, Really hated the new ones.
Also liked 'Empty', but not sure if the 'non-scottish members have see that'
-
I love this thread - its degenerated into something quite weird and surreal - probably the best legacy that 'lovespigs' could have left behind after such a short but turbid visit to the forum - great stuff!

Rab C did so much for fashion, the sale of string vests rocketed, anyway, what happened to string vests, do people still were them? defnately not unisex as the stings would grate womens b its a bit!!!!
-
we love to watch "still game" and don't have too much trouble with the accent.........however" Rab C nesbit" is another kettle of fish. I spend most of the programme either asking my husband "what did he say" or answering the same question from him. I think it's a Scottish plot!
-
It was Peter Kaye who said that the mother of all buscuits for dunking in tea is the Hob Nob - you can't beat an hob nob - it sucks in half your brew! I love that sketch - miss the biscuits as well!
Kate :yum:
for a long time i had the ringtone that went "Muuuuuuummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! Me biscuits fallen in me brew!"
But on the subject of biscuits - jaffa cakes - a cake or a biscuit - and why is the difference important to mcvities?
-
We love Still Game in our house and have no problem understanding the accent.
Saw the first episode of Empty too, but decided I daren't watch it with little sister in the same room so never saw any more! ;D
-
I know this one - Answer = "A biscuit goes soft when its stale and a cake goes hard" and "McVites claimed Jaffa Cakes as a way of avoiding VAT - which is only applied to luxury items like biscuits"...I think!
Farmer
:farmer:
P.S. I remember all this useless information from watching Q.I.
-
So now I know, I could eat a whole pack of digestives dipped in a cuppa, trouble is you get the horid bit of slop at the bottom of the cup!!!

go to the top of the class, Jaffa cakes are indeed cakes and not bisuits - despite tesco et al putting them in the biscuit aisle! McVities even baked a full sized Jaffa Cake (wedding cake sized) to make their point
and the orangey bit on top - is actually made from apricots
QI is great eh :-)
-
Oh fantastic...that'll show "she who must be obeyed" that watching Q.I. is not a waste of time!
Great programme...has me laughing out loud everytime. ;D

-
Q.I.is my favorite programme. for half an hour I can feel like an intellectual !
-
what ever happend to lemon jaffa cakes ;D
-
not sure I think I tried them, think there were lime ones tooooooo, not too keen on all the different Kit Kat flavors and, I am sure normal plain kit kat has changed, it seems sweeter, a bit like cheeper chocolate and melts quicker, mind you I have hotter hands at the moemnt...time of my life ::)
