I'm bewildered by the variety of bacon slicers on offer from ebay and Amazon. Does anyone have any recommendations for a slicer, say up to £100.
Regards, Dave

the first one we had was from aldi about £50 and with a 3 year guarantee which you cant fault they are not made for industrial use but for domestic use its fine.

Not sure you'd get a good enough new one for under £100 these days. We purchased one (of the supposedly better range) from Amazon a few years ago- and sent it straight back.
There are some great bargains on ebay, though - we found a Berkel for just under £250, the kind that is used in shops and with a new price of over £2K. A fab investment.

Yes I have a Berkel, bought it off a butcher who had 2 only £150 bargain. Well worth hanging on until you can find one it will last a life time.
There are a few on ebay at the moment for reasonable prices, worth a look.

We just needed on to cut bacon and ham for our own consumption - so we did not need a large cutting blade but did want something that will last.
Graaf do a range and the one we got for £70 works very well. Hope it lasts.!

I have a larger version of one of these-they are very good!

We have a Buffalo Meat Slicer very much like the one above .. what I would say is that if you buy one off eBay (or anywhere second hand) make absolutely sure it comes with the 'attachment' ... best described as the blade remover that enables you to safely remove, handle and clean the cutting disk. If it does not have that (unless you know where to get one) I would strongly recommend not touching it ... it should also come with an attachment to sharpen the cutting disk. The one on eBay appears to be missing both of these.

Definitely search on ebay for a decent second hand commercial one (Berkel, Hobart, Omega, Ital, etc). The ones you find new for less than £100 won't do the job with bacon, regardless of what the manufacturers' descriptions promise.
It may take some time, but you should eventually find one for anything between £50 and £150. It'll be worth it.
