For those of you who spin odd looking yarn, as I do ;D , and wonder what to make with it, I have got a book from the library called Knitting In No Time by Melody Griffiths. Its full of things that you can make where an exact size is not a problem.
There are 50 easy knits in the book, including bags, shawls, jackets etc. There is a very nice and easy wrap and a roll neck cowl that would be great in cold weather under a coat.
It would be worth a look if you can get a copy from your library.

I don't spin but looked this book up on Amazon and decided to order it for £2.80 p&p free.

MGM, thats a great idea. I would like to keep the book so have ordered it also. Mine has cost £2.81. It saves me having to scan all the patterns. For that price its not worth the effort.

Well you guys get a better service from Amazon than I do. I'd already looked, pretty much as soon as Sally posted the link, and the best price was £7.48 including postage.

Sally, just checked. There are two entries for it, the first one you can look in and costs £10.49 new. the second one is £2.70 plus postage of £2.80. They have obviously sold out of the £2.80 postage free. It was from the book house and they are no listed now. You can buy used ones for 1p + £2.80.
Interestingly, when I type in Knitting in No Time in Books I get a different page to just putting the title.

Thanks MGWoM - still not finding the 1p+£2.80, cheapest I can get is £4.55+£2.80 new, £2.50+£2.80 used ("acceptable", ie, scruffy, condition) Am such a cheapskate I don't want to spend £5.30! I will see if it's in our Guild box of borrowable books (aka a library, I suppose :-J) on Saturday.

Thanks Dans, I must've been having a :dunce: moment - looking at hardback only or something, I guess. Anyway, I've ordered one now.

Spinning on hold at the moment. Haven't been very well as of late so not been doing much apart from trying to get in to work. Giving the wheel a coat of oil this weekend, she's had a new drive band, new fishing twine thingy and spring, and a new leather strap, so she shall be beaming and ready for a picture soon!

Sorry to hear you've not been well :bouquet: Hope you return to fighting fit asap.
I've been told that we shouldn't be using fishing line as other than a temporary fix for our brake band as it will, over time, cut into the bobbin and cease to be an adjustable brake! :D
The best thing to use, apparently, is crochet cotton. I'm picking some up on Saturday (swapsie at Guild.)

Ooooo for the brake band. I'm using whatever comes in the ashford repair kit from wingham wools. Wheel is upstairs but will have a look later and see what it is.

Book arrived today. There are some great patterns in it and I'm looking forward to trying some of them. I need to unpick a waistcoat I was making myself as I've now lost more than 3 1/2 stone and it'll be too big. :D

I know you are ging through a bad time with pain but I am so jealous of the weight you have lost.

It took the pain to do it, Sally. I've tried to diet for years without much success so every cloud does have a silver lining. Just hope my hands will let me knit. I haven't tried for a few months and I'm finding my hand writing has deteriorated so the needles might be a problem.
