Title: Mouflon or their hybrids?
Post by: Fieldfare on October 15, 2012, 08:52:42 pm
...I wonder if anyone knows if Mouflon, or their hybrids, are available in the UK? I assume F1 hybrids would not need a Dangerous Wild Animal Licence (as in iron age pigs). Any links would be interesting. Thanks.

I only know of Castlemilk Moorits, which breed was created in the early 1900s by crossing Manx Loaghtans, Shetlands and Mouflons.

If you do find out about any Mouflons or first crosses in the UK, I'd love to hear more about them and their history.

There is an article in the Castlemilk soc newsletter with a history of the breed and photos of Mouflons , big leggy things that would need 10 ft high fences to keep them in by the look of e'm.
I have a couple of starter flocks for sale at the moment (CM's)
